Alchohol Substitute

Does anyone if you can use an alchohol substitute in your water system if you are using Kimo plates? I want to know if it will mess up the plates.

Re: Alchohol Substitute

Hello

My friend is running a 9850 and he is using alchohol in is system

and it seems to be running fine.

the only thing he had to do was to a just the pressure of his rollers.

do to the fact the he was losing the image after 3000 impressions.

he is now getting about 15,000.

good luck

Re: Alchohol Substitute

Adding chemicals to a printing press could create problems, (toning, emulsifying, blinding ...) and is not recommended.

You will not hurt the E2 plates but remember you can make matters worse. If you are having fountain issues, more than likely you need a press mechanic to diagnose the problem and make the adjustments accordingly.

When having any kind of process problems on press it is recommended to strip down the press and pumice all rollers, change blanket and start up with fresh ink and fountain solution.

If the problem comes back then the issue will be with the press itself.
