Cartridge Mechanism Fault

We have a reoccuring problem with our Kimo 340.

It seems that the printer cartridge carraige loses track of its positioning and does'nt return the printer catridges back to their cradle. Sometimes it won't even pick up the cartridge to start with. Is there any way we can reset the carriage's 0 point?

Re: Cartridge Mechanism Fault

We are having a very similar intermittent fault with our Kimosetter 410. During warmup the print head cycles as usual, but occasionally there is a "grinding" noise and the error light comes on, upon opening the cover the cartridge mechanism has come to a halt in the middle of the machine, if I manually return the mechanism to it's rest position it usually does the trick & the machine works normally. The problem does sometimes re-occur when starting to output a plate which gives me a "Cartridge Error" message, which again is usually resolved by the above method. I'm hoping it's nothing major as we have already had to have the heads replaced and don't want to throw good money after bad, so any ideas/suggestions out there would be much appreciated.

Apologies Jeremy if it appears I hijacked your thread, I was going to start a new thread, but I figured it would'nt do any harm to bump your question again.

Regards,

Graham.

Re: Cartridge Mechanism Fault

You probably need to do a complete cleaning.

My 340 was doing the same thing. They have a cleaning manual on how to disassemble the unit to clean it.

They sent it to me. I cleaned the unit and it works fine now.

Basically, you remove the covers, blow the dust out with a can of compressed air, clean the sensors with a Q tip moistened with isoprobanol, clean the feed rollers and the platen, and clean the print head.
